Would you rather be famous (in a good way, not infamous) or would you rather be rich?

Assume if you pick famous, you can't use the fame to make money, and if you pick rich, you can't do anything to make yourself famous.

Rich. It would boggle my mind that some people would choose the other.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of my greatest idols are billionaires hardly anyone's ever heard of.

Rich. I don't like being the center of attention and I like my privacy.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich, final answer

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich. I like money and I like my privacy.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich over famous. I could do what I love all day long, be healthy, make friends (though I guess not to the point of great popularity).

Rich. I can still donate anonymously, and that's fine.

Rich. (maybe I'm missing something but aren't most of the people who are famous but not rich, famous for something negative, like Charlie Manson?)

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich. I'd much rather be the person who can go to a restaurant, not be bothered by anyone, and leave a massive tip for my nice waitress. And I think I could do a lot more good with wealth than I could with fame

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Fame is pointless. Gimme money.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Rich. My idea of a perfect life is one where I don't have to work or interact with people if I don't want to, so being rich and entirely unknown would be a dream come true.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
who wouldn't pick rich?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely rich. I could still use the money to do good things in the world without getting famous go it, so there's really now downside here.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-20 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
RICH! Why would you need to be famous?

the only downside to taking the money is that you can't donate a lot without people knowing you for that. scratch that, you can do it anonymously! so rich for sure!

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
You can even start a foundation through which to source all your charitable work and make someone else the face.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Rich. When I buy the occasional lotto ticket I always fear the fifteen minutes of fame that come with winning, even though I have a better chance of being run over by a roller-skating dog or whatever. If I won the lotto and could use my winnings to buy anonimity and still be rich afterwards, I would.

Rich and not famous sounds like the dream.

Rich because I'd want to use that money to make a difference in the world. Donate most of it. Just keep enough to pay off my student loans and to live on.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Shit, no question - rich. Being famous without having money would be awful. You'd have no way of providing yourself with a protective buffer from all the people who'd want a piece of you, all the time, regardless of how YOU felt about it. I'm perfectly fine with being a filthy rich nobody.

Rich. Easy.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think this question would be much more interesting if it were a choice between rich AND famous, or rich and anonymous.

What's the point of being famous and not rich? Being rich without major recognition would be the best.
