I remember lemons and limes...strangely enough, I learned this term irl, so idk if it was strictly a fandom thing, but yes, it was cute.

I feel like it came from anime/manga fandom?

Like there was an old-school hentai manga compilation that was called Lemon, or something like that?

I might be making that up

Lime was less explicit than lemon, I think. Or maybe it was the other way around.

Nah, according to Fanlore (https://fanlore.org/wiki/Lemon) a lime was "a hint of lemon", so less explicit than lemon.

The above poster has it.

Lemon = Explicit/Mature
Lime = "Teen" or "PG-13"
Then there was Orange, the lightest possible citrus, which never really caught on outside some crazy anime circles (that I happened to be a part of).

Dang I'm old. :p
