Urine in eyes

So apparently people are putting urine in their eyes, as a health thing. Saw it on Facebook.

I'd really want to know the thought process that ends with putting old piss into your eyes.

Not much of a thought process at all, tbh.

Okay, so I’ve heard this is a thing that people used to do if they needed to wash stuff out of a baby’s eyes, only they’d literally hold the kid under a pissing cow. Because urine is (supposed to be, but better not have any UTIs going on) sterile, it was sometimes safer than water in the days before reliable municipal water testing. Not clicking the link, but presumably that’s not what’s going on in the article.
