And then why reboot it at all if you're not going to appeal somewhat to the original audience? Wouldn't make more sense to just make an entirely new show?

You don't know how these kinds of things work. The reason ANYONE reboots or remakes something is because they have a built in IP to work with. And they don't care about the adults. They care about the kids of those adults. Those kids are the ones who will be clamoring for the toys. And kids love this style of art.

And that is the silliest version of meddling I have seen. And just proves that the adults that watched it were not buying the merch. That is what they care about. Merchandise. That is why Disney handles everything they do in regards to Marvel and MCU.
