You can probably leave a comment with nice constructive criticism? A summary like this says, to me, that the author is probably young and unsure of themselves. Fuck, I did stuff like this when I was 12 and just starting out (although I was also hindered by FF.net limiting the length of the goddamn summaries). They may be really thankful to get a comment saying that they don't need to disparage themselves and maybe they can get some practice in writing summaries. Summaries are HARD, I still struggle with them

Respect to those who take the trouble to leave helpful concrit, but I don't do it unless someone requests it AND I believe they're sincere because I've been burned too many times. There are too many people who will react badly when they get unexpected (or unsolicited!) concrit, and people who ask for it but don't really expect it and then react badly when they get it.

Thank you! I think a lot of people assume that everyone wants concrit. I would rather not receive it myself; it's not like I'm trying to become a writer and need to hone my craft. It's a hobby for me, and as such, I'd rather just have fun with it and not feel bad about what I'm doing (I always get butthurt, even if the person is respectful and also offers praise).

I do feel kind of bad though about one reader I got into a long back-and-forth with, just talking about the story... she'd praised it in all her comments, and then BAM! suddenly, "here's what you did wrong" (no, she didn't put it that way, but that's how I always take it). I just immediately stopped replying. And I think she noticed, too, because she re-sent that message. I couldn't make myself thank her :( But you know what? The two minor things she criticized have stuck with me, and I bet that's made me a better writer.
