Re: Job suckiness vent

Since I am an idiot with a useless degree and no skills living in a town with an awful job market, I can’t get a good fucking job. The only time I wasn’t living paycheck to paycheck with only a few dollars to spare at the end of the month was when I was working two jobs, which apparently was “bad for my mental and physical health” or whatever. My cat is basically the only thing keeping me from killing myself. I should probably start applying for second jobs again, even though my partner gets upset whenever I mention it. If it kills me at least no one can say I was lazy.

Are you able to do side hustles?

I do balloon animals at local events and restaurants. I use an old bear shaped animal cracker jug as a tip jar and let people decide how much to pay. I used Amazon credit I got from doing surveys to buy the twisting balloons (buy Qualatex brand, the other brands pop easily and are horrible) and bought a hand balloon pump from Walmart for less than $3.50. The only other thing you need is a black Sharpie and you can get them from the Dollar Tree. I learned how to make them by watching videos on YouTube.
I am thinking of expanding to doing decorative balloon arches and balloons stuffed with toys, candy, and gifts after watching tutorials on YouTube.

I saw a guy the other afternoon who was standing on a curb selling cold bottles of water for $1. He was making a lot of money and he was on a side road, not a main one. Check your local town laws though.

To effectively be able to do anything like that in my area you need a car, which I don’t have/I can’t drive. I know people who will do face painting and stuff like that, and my partner actually used to work for a balloon company, and it’s basically impossible to get jobs here that don’t require traveling a town over at least semi regularly, and we have next to zero public transport.

And my town is also pretty strict about all vendors.

<3

It's not your fault and it's not because you're lazy.
