What's the extent of your hate towards your least favorite character? Do you write long rants about them or do you just refuse to read any fics that include them (even if they just die in it)?

Yeah, I mostly just ignore them as militantly as possible

I just ignore them. Don't have time for ranting.

I have Darcy blacklisted on any of the MCU tags I go thru. That is about it. I don't really go on rants about them unless asked.

I generally just avoid fics in which the character plays a big role (unless they are straight up bashing fics) and avoid fics in which the character is paired with anyone (because I don't enjoy the thought that someone has to put up with them).

I'm mostly a lurker who doesn't produce any content at all, but I have on occasion gone looking for long rants about characters I hated and thoroughly enjoyed reading them.

I read fic that warns for character bashing with absolute glee.

Ted Mosby. Honestly, whenever I talk about him I get too angry to write more than a sentence or three. I just hate him so much. So, so much.

But since the only part of the fandom I really venture into is the Robin/Barney part of the fandom, generally I'm in good company in hating Ted.

Any time I've seen "Ted Mosby" written on this forum I always think Mr. Mosby from Suite Life, wonder why anyone would hate him, then realize they meant HIMYM, Mosby. I just dislike that whole show, so, I dislike of Ted shouldn't be too hard to comprehend.

I had that character get killed in a nasty way in one fic and get publicly insulted much to the amusement of a very snarky character in another.

I'll avoid them as much as I can, won't read any fics with the in, might even blacklist them on tumblr if I follow someone who posts a lot about them(but then I usually don't follow people who like a character I hate).

I basically want nothing to do with them at all, not even in a negative way.

I mostly ignore them, but will rant about them if asked.
I *try* to write them as fairly as I can when I must (it's not possible to cut them out completely), but I know my hate kinda bleeds through.

I mostly just refuse to reblog most things with that character in it. I have their name blacklisted on Tumblr, and I try not to read too many fics with them in it.

I’ve written rants about my least favorite characters, but I only post about my dislike on FS or to comiserate with other people who dislike them, and I avoid fics where they show up a lot. I don’t get the point of posting hate in character tags or whatever, that’s what anti-tags are for. I hate when people post about how much they loathe my favorite characters in the character or ship tags; I’m not gonna turn around and do it to others.

I've written essay about why they suck and posted them nowhere. I've ranted to my therapist about them. I've rewritten scenes from the story so they finally get what's coming to them.

I'm not a Tony Stark fan. It's just not a character type I find funny unless it's in strict moderation. I don't do anything about it except avoid fics where he's a main character.

I generally ignore them, but I'll occasionally post snarky one-liners - any claim of a character being a 'Mary Sue' used to be quite likely to get me to make a comparison to Batman (who I no longer hate, since the canon has stopped writing him as a Grumpy Sue), frex.

My least favorite character of all time: I won't be friends with anyone who's a fan of them. I unfollowed and blocked a mutual because they were a fan and wrote rants defending the character.

My least favorite character in my most active fandoms: I pretend to like because the fandom would call me a misogynist and lesbophobe (even though it's only fanon that she's a lesbian) if I didn't. I just don't read or write fic with her as a major character.

I mostly try to keep my Chakotay hate to myself even in my fic, as he's a fairly popular character (for reasons I'll never understand) and character-bashing in fanfic just feels kind of tacky to me. I try very hard not to bash him when I include him in a fic scene, but deep down I'm thinking about how portraying him as having a likeable personality is wildly OOC the whole time I'm writing it. Leaving aside the Native American stereotypes that went into his character, my dislike of the Maquis in general and the fact that every so often the show would give him a hobby or interest in one episode and then never bring it up again afterwards, his personality and expressions are so wooden that all of his sex partners probably have to pick splinters out of their junk after every sexual encounter with him. Also, I'm still salty about C/7, especially since most of Chakotay and Seven's interactions up to that point involved him treating her like shit.

It doesn't help that I spent several years trying to force myself to like him, as the fandom spaces I hung out in at the time were very anti-character hate of any kind and I wanted to fit in. Finally admitting to myself that I still hated Chakotay was quite freeing. These days I just try to avoid Chakotay fans so that I don't have to bottle up my absolute disdain for him. I may not understand why so many fans like him, but I'm not gonna yell at anyone for it or try to spoil their fun, 'cause that's not cool.

oh god, he WAS annoying, wasn't he? we wait this long to get a Native American character in Trek and he's this fucking wimp
