OP should totally check out JustNoMIL! I think the people there would be far more understanding about the prospect of an awful MIL who goes overboard with the fangirling. People here... hmmm. They're good folks for the most part, but it's obvious many of them don't have the same level of experience with family dysfunction or they'd probably not find OP's anger so threatening and over the top.

The OP is judging hard and wanting sympathy or empathy, and because they are so harsh in their judgment, they are not getting any slack. This OP reminds me too much of many of my in-laws, who are also judgy as fuck. Best day of my life was when my spouse told his family to take their judgement and shove it up their collective asses.

So, yeah, I definitely side with the MIL here. It sucks to be judged just because you live your life differently than some people.
