101: Aha, oh I sorta understand that. Luckily, I've always had money for food, but my monetary spendings has always been limited. At least one person has actually thought I was/am spoiled, but I've also been really lucky. Like when I got my car and also KH:FM+. Wish I had more stuff sometimes, but in the end... it's just stuff. When I have money to buy clothes I'm planning on going to mostly second-hand shops. Why pay $50 for jeans when you can spend like $7 for lightly used pair?

176: Fansubs are bad. Kind of funny how anime companies do absolutely NOTHING to stop them except for a couple sprinklings of cease and desist letters here and there and Greg Ayres preaching at anime cons. And then they even SUPPORT fansubs by doing stuff like officially streaming anime on CrunchyRoll.

But if it wasn't for fansubs, I would have never been able to watch Legend of Galactic Heroes, or other realllllly old anime that nobody will ever license because it won't make a profit in the states. So they aren't entirely bad. And most of the people in my fandom (mecha shows) are older people with jobs who buy series when they are released. In fact, a lot of people on /m/ are pissed because they are afraid that due to Harmony Gold and licensing issues, Macross Frontier may not get a US release.

Secondly, I tutily agree. :D Fansubs has cons, but it also has pros.

Macross Frontier with no US release? That'd be total LOSE. D:

Oh yeah and I do believe Japanese companies can be partly to blame for licensing issues as they know how popular anime can be in the US nowadays and the costs of licensing shows is ridiculous (or so I've heard). I don't even want to imagine how much a huge show like Naruto or Bleach cost, but I suspect in the millions. Of course, Viz has probably made all that and much more back with all the cute fankids. xD

Unfortunately, I'm currently jobless so for the time being my b/f and I are stuck not being able to afford much of any anime, but we have a list of stuff we will buy when we get a bit more stable. :3
