A lot. I had parents who went nuts if I so much as said "anyways" as a joke. When you get screamed at for believing "soft drink" means any non-alcoholic drink as opposed to just soda or saying "scallop" with a short "a" (and when you say both pronunciations are in the dictionary, you get screamed at more because your parents decided only the pronunciation that's listed first is the correct one and all others are fake) it rubs off on you.
