Can you explain how it feels to be tattooed? Does it really hurt?

It hurts, but it only REALLY hurts in some places. I got mine done on my inner forearm, and the middle part stung like getting my gums scraped at the dentist. It was uncomfortable, but tolerable. When she got down to my wrist or closer up to my elbow, though, I had to grit my teeth. I'm sure I was pulling some great faces. Afterwards it's like going around with a giant skinned knee, because that's basically what it is. You've got a very shallow open wound over a (possibly) large area, so it can be pretty uncomfortable until it starts to heal up properly.
