preteens generally do not have curves because secondary sex characteristics happen during puberty, even on women with small breasts and narrow hips, and preteens have not gone through puberty so they lack those?

i'm confused @ what's confusing about this

(Anonymous) 2018-05-28 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Because preteens can still have all different types of body shapes and different weights and stuff.

So the confusion is that it seems to me that either you're using "curvy" to specifically mean secondary sexual characteristics, or the fact that the characters are preteens isn't relevant to the discussion. Unless I'm missing something.

i took OP to mean they look "anorexic" because they are all built like stick figures aka straight skinny lines down as opposed to having any semblance of curves. partially due to the art style

i was saying they may look "anorexic" aka built like stick figures because they are pre-teens or young teens i guess. lots of ordinary kids that age look like that, that's just normal. it doesn't have to be "anorexia" or even being particularly skinny.

yes, pre-teens could be overweight but none of the characters these are based on are canonically overweight anyway, so i didn't feel it bore mentioning

DA but I think you're interpreting it in a weird way. I didn't think it had anything to do with lack of "curves." I think OP meant that the way they are drawn makes OP think they appear unhealthily thin.

I must say I'm quite confused by the fact that you seem to think the only options here are either stick thin, overweight, or "curvy." There are many different weights in between underweight and overweight, and many different body types in between stick skinny and curvy.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-28 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't think that? i mentioned overweightness as an aside since the characters all literally do have the same body type, because that's how the original characters are. i also mentioned that the art style does tend toward the stick-like so we're not in disagreement.

i mean i could sit here and list different body types all day if you want, to prove i know they exist because they do? idk how that would help. the broad types in question are 1. ones that look anorexic and 2. ones that do not look anorexic, correct? curvy and visibly overweight are two examples of many different body types that do not look anorexic, that's all.

i dont find they look unhealthily thin considering the age of the characters they're based off of, many normal kids that age look like that because they're right before the big height and weight spurt into adolescence. if you told me they were 18-19, thats a different story.

Well all you said in your previous comment was that it didn't make sense to criticize their body types because they're pre-teens so can't be curvy, and the characters aren't canonically overweight so can't look fat and obviously there are no other options. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

am i being trolled? can you show me where i said that?

did you mean this???? i was pointing out that there may be a reason for it besides "anorexia." if that's how you interpreted that i see why you're confused... wow. uh, forgive me if i don't continue the conversation, if that's is how this is going to go.

criticize their body types away. hf
