OH, I dunno. Butler is a pretty solid Eric imo.

Yeah, but he's a bad Erik. And a terrible singer.

We were dying for your opinion on this.

Are you related to Andrew Lloyd Webber? ;)

Seriously, the dude can't sing, and one of the biggest character traits Erik has in all versions is his unearthly, beautiful, multi-octave singing range.

Also, since I'm a book purist: Original Erik is a middle-aged man who toured as "The Living Skeleton". He was also pug-ugly. In the original book, he had no nose, and had to wear a prosthetic. Even the original ALW stage makeup was rather hideous under the mask. I hate to parrot others, but in comparison to the amount of deformity he should have had, Butler had a freaking sunburn. In terms of personality, I didn't see an unstable, obsessive, creepy genius in Gerard Butler's interpretation, but a manchild upset when he can't play with his favorite toy.

Sorry, but I'm really passionate about this since I looked so forward to this particular movie adaptation and although I think Emmy Rossum did a decent job as Christine, Gerard Butler's Erik just ruined it for me.
