Daenerys is a thousand times more interesting and complex than Mr "I'm a manly man so that makes sexual harassment OK". Like, what makes him less of a Mary Sue than her? The way the movie is constantly validating him? How he's never wrong? How he never directly loses anything (instead his black friend dies! Shock twist!)?

If I'm remembering right, when the raptors turn on people he gets attacked by one, but is able to hide in a log until she's distracted (a scenario modified from JP the book). I don't think he's "in focus" for the rest of the movie, but given the lack of explicit death scene (or grisly implication a la Ray Arnold) I assume he eventually got back safely. He may or not be in the background at the evacuation/refugee hangers.

What makes him less of a Mary Sue is that he's a man. People will bend over backwards to absolve male characters of this descriptor while at the same time shrieking "Mary Sue!!!" if a female character happens to be competent in anything, ever. And god forbid she also be attractive.

The irony is that Dany isn't particularly competent and her failure is a major plotpoint. But she's a powerful woman, so MARY SUEEEEEE
