Like... I don't think it's actually necessarily obvious, especially from the point of view of someone who's still super into a ship, that sometimes people just get tired of it and stop caring.

I'm wondering this too. Snarry and Snermione (guys it was WIKTT in my day) would both be *problematic* today, but they're way too big to be niche. I don't know any incest ships popular enough to attract tumblr tween rage. The only ship I can think of is Harry/Sirius (which I kinda lowkey ship but would NEVER admit nowadays. fuck moral policing, man).

I'm with you that a lot of people go too far with deeming ships morally bad or good (in this weird, unrealistic black & white way), but idk. Most people eventually just move on from old fandoms. It happens.
