I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that the beady little eyes are just .... *shudder*

(Anonymous) 2018-05-29 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, yeah, no arguments here. Doesn't help that most dolls & lifesized-looking animal toys creep the fuck out of me.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-29 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)

PIGLET!!!
*smishes him*

I could handle everything but zombie Tigger. The rest of them are a little uncanny, but Tigger died months ago and no one told him.

I thought they were cute, but to each their own.

I think Piglet, Pooh and Roo are cute tbh but the others are a little... odd. Especially Tigger, he looks about ready to eat someone's face off.

But I also imagine that these might look better in movement than a still image.

Oh!

:-(

I think they look sweet. I would cuddle them.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-29 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. They are definitely creepy but this is the biopic film, right? The actual toys that inspired those characters were super creepy looking (toys in general from that time period were ugly and creepy AF), so they look very accurate.

Yep.

They look pretty creepy to me, too.

E. H. Shepard's illustrations were such a part of my early childhood that I'm bemused to hear them called "strange." The Disney versions are the goofy ones!

Oh, don't get me wrong, i love the original illustrations. But they are a little weird sometimes.

Yes, the EH Shepard illustrations are wonderful!

These are less modeled on the original toys than they're the Disney cartoon versions done over in the style of toys of a hundred years ago. Compare, for example, the Tigger in your picture with the original Tigger here. The face and jaw in the movie still disctinctly recall the animated character, and are not at all in evidence in the toy in the picture of the display case.

Oh, you're right! I was vaguely wondering about the designs. These are like faded & scruffy Disney Pooh.
