It is from the Dragera series, by Steven Brust. Specifically it's the cycle of the ruling houses of the setting's empire... and the mythical beasties named in it all exist, too.

Okay, now I must read. Hey, I'll be having surgery in two weeks, I need things to read while I'm out of commission.

Okay, question, are there any books in this series outside the Vlad Taltos ones? I've actually got those ebooks on my computer. But I'm a completist. I want to make sure I've got everything and read it in the right order. For some reason, google isn't helping me.

Okay, cool. So I need to find those other ones and find out where they fit chronologically (I always read in chronological order). Good to know.

It's difficult to find a *right* order: sometimes he'd go back and fill in a gap in the timeline.

Also check out "Brokedown Palace" which takes place in the East of Dragaera, and the Paarfi of Roundwood series, which starts with "The Phoenix Guards".

And some, like Tiassa, are themselves broken into scenes scattered at various places in the timeline.
