UFOs

More strictly speaking, I believe that new military aircraft gets seen sometimes before it gets declassified. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_51
Re: UFOs
(Anonymous) 2018-06-02 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)I'm also aware of the fact that the CIA encouraged the belief in UFOs to cover up for their very human aircraft testing
I'm not willing to believe UFOs containing large-headed humanoids decided to randomly visit to speak to the government for no particular reason then leave again after probing the butts of a few farmers 'cause I guess they found nothing much interesting up there
They also seem to have gone extinct with the advent of cell phone video
Re: UFOs
(Anonymous) 2018-06-02 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)They haven't gone extinct at all - there are tons of purported UFO sighting cell phone videos all over the Internet.
They're just not any more convincing or real than the ones that people made before cell phones were invented.
Re: UFOs
(Anonymous) 2018-06-03 03:27 am (UTC)(link)Nope. A while back, a user scoffed at how Bigfoot pictures/video no longer happened now that we had cell phones, and that's not true, either. Cryptid stuff is bigger than ever, and all you have to do is type "Bigfoot" or "UFO sighting" into youtube to see bunches of purported videos. I don't believe in them, but they are definitely NOT extinct.

Are they aliens visiting us? Almost certainly not.
Re: UFOs
But do I believe that aliens come and visit us in space-crafts to test or observe us? No.
I do think alien life exists somewhere out there in the universe, but whether or not it has the same level of intelligence or technological advancement is the question.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-02 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)I don't think any of them at all are physical spacecraft, piloted by alien intelligences, etc, etc, etc, etc. It's a very unlikely explanation.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-03 05:46 am (UTC)(link)As for want, IDK, aliens probably have anthropologists and things like that, too. :V

(Anonymous) 2018-06-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)Re: UFOs
(Anonymous) 2018-06-03 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)The other kind that all the tabloid reading whack jobs are obsessing over...
...not so much. Friendly aliens would be wonderful to talk to, even over interstellar distances. Unfriendly ones with butt probes, etc., obviously not.
Unfortunately, there's still no proof of anybody or anything willing to talk to humanity out there at all. I still wonder if planet Earth is experiencing the equivalent of an intergalactic phubbing.
Re: UFOs
(Anonymous) 2018-06-03 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)I take it as a given that life exists elsewhere in the universe. We now know planets are common, and the universe is so vast... it is statistically very unlikely Earth is unique in supporting life. Plus, all you really need for life as we know it is liquid water. You don't even technically need sunlight (while most life on Earth is ultimately dependent on the sun, we also have entire food chains that are mosyly cut off from the sun and are dependent on deep sea volcanic vents instead).
