I don't think I've ever wanted to have the house to myself so badly. I really want to scream and yell every swear world I know over and over again.

So my surgery was supposed to be all set. Everything had been scheduled and approved. Only, our insurance tells us at 4:30 today, after having approved the surgery the previous week, that actually I need some sort of special kind of referral from my primary care doctor. The referral I already have won't do. And, of course, they tell us this after it is too late to get that referral from my doctor or even talk to him today. He closes at 4:30 and opens at 8:30, and the surgery was supposed to be at 8.

So now I have to reschedule everything again, put the surgery off at least a week (who knows how long it will take to get them a referral they actually accept, and my doctor only operates on Tuesdays).

Fucking insurance company. And I can't even express anger at home. For some reason, my mother doesn't think it is the insurance company's fault, even though they either lied or just didn't care enough to look at the records and what they needed when we actually asked them to. Every time I say something, she says it isn't their fault and I shouldn't be mad at them. Fuck them. It is their fault. All their fault. They are evil. Fuck them.

I'm sorry. Insurance companies suck. They do. I've had lots of problems with them myself. hugs if you want them.

I have a family member(FM) who gets botox shots to relax the muscles in their feet to make walking with a walker easier. They're disabled by Parkinson's disease and get botox to uncurl their toes.

Traveling to the neurologist to get the shots is a huge hassle because FM has to get up earlier (they have issues with insomnia and an earlier wakeup screws up their medication schedule), struggle through getting dressed even with help, and they get really stressed out. Teacher is another family member who is a teacher at a school. They have bring their bigger car to transport FM because my household's car is a junker with crappy fuel mileage. The trip can take up to forty five minutes in good traffic and up to two hours if traffic is bad. In order to help transport FM, Teacher has to call in a sub and miss a day of work to be present as a driver.

It NEVER fails that the insurance company will call and quibble about copayments or some kind of screwup that makes us have to cancel the botox appointment last minute, and we get charged a penalty for canceling less than twenty four hours before the appointment. Teacher misses a school day for nothing, FM is tired from not sleeping well, their medication schedule is all screwed up for the day and they get to struggle through changing back into their pajamas.

It's like insurance companies don't care how much hassle they cause as long as they can fuck up your life in any possible way.

Another ridiculous thing that happens if insurance doesn't screw up is the pharmacy fails to deliver the botox on the appointed day and we don't find out until we're just about to go out the door, so FM has to cancel because of that too and Teacher drove out for nothing.

It's so much bullshit and I'm sorry you're struggling with it. It's got to be worse for you because you have to spend more time dealing with an issue that surgery was supposed to fix. :(

One of my dumb ideas of the year involves feeding discourse blogs into a machine-learning system. But unlike Deep Dream where it was a bit of a surprise that everything came out mutant dogs, I KNOW a computer fed a diet of discourse bloggers will churn out mutant assholes.

My nice, quiet neighborhood was overrun with Nazi scum, so I moved out of my house to take care of my elderly mother in her nice quiet neighborhood.

Now, in the six months I've lived here, the drug dealers have moved into the rental houses. And with the drug dealers, the thefts have started.

Someone kicked in a neighbor's back door (fortunately, no one was home). Someone stole another neighbor's lawn mower. Someone tried to steal something from another neighbor's place - but was spotted and ran. Someone dropped off a car in a neighbor's driveway, blocking their two vehicles in for nearly twelve hours - and while they were there, they stole the license tag off my car.

Now that it's finally warm, EVERYTHING IS COLD. I seem to be the only person who doesn't want to freeze everything in sight.

And I hate when people insist it's easier being colder because you can layer up. So I'm supposed to wear a snowsuit everywhere in 90 degree weather? That's about what it'll take to be warm some places.

I understand the other side, don't hold it against anyone, it's just... yikes.

Fuck yes. My work is like a meatlocker. Even on the days when it's 90+ outside, i'm wearing a hoodie and opening the window in my office so my fingers don't fall off.

I live in coastal southern California but have a coworker who apparently wishes he lived in Siberia—I once brought a thermometer to work and it was 44 degrees at my workstation. He complains every time the AC breaks, but maybe it wouldn’t break so often if he wasn’t hellbent on turning the front desk into a walk-in freezer. I started wearing knee-high sheepskin boots because I couldn’t get away with a puffy jacket.

As someone who just had to go a full week in 90+ weather: fuck you. Take a jacket with you and suck it up because my entire house almost ended up in the hospital from heat exhaustion and you don't know how good you have it.

It's cold and I feel like death and I don't want to drag myself to the doctors today just to get results. It's always bad news so I don't get to have it read out over the phone. They're going to tell me I need more infusions and I'm tired of it. I don't see the point in any of it anymore.

Ngh. The insides of my thighs feel like they’re gonna slough off. It wasn’t even hot out today, I wasn’t noticeably aroused by anything, nothing itches ... I guess I should just count myself lucky that I don’t usually have this problem, but it sucks so horribly when I do. I should buy some talcum powder or bike shorts even though I probably won’t use them again for another couple months. Ow ow ow. *commences spraddle-legged lurching*
