the series won't be a re-tread of the movies. It will draw from the massive pile of notes that Tolkien put together in writing the books and cover a great deal of back story.

Apparently the first season is going to be about Young Aragorn?

*eyeroll* of course it is. I love Aragorn, but I really loved (in the books) the development of the relationships between the characters, and how it didn't just focus on one character. But I get it.

This. Tolkien specifically did not write a traditional hero story. If he had, Aragorn would have destroyed the Ring and then killed Sauron himself. That's not what it is about. Aragorn is one, admittedly awesome, part of an ensemble. The Fellowship, for me, was always best being about the relationships, not about one single character.
