Doctor Who is a series that you can watch isolated series by series. I've only seen new school Who, not old. Babylon 5, yeah... But it's only 5 seasons, nowhere near as long as Stargate.

While Adama/Roslin is awesome, I dunno that I'd call Roslin "the" lead female of the show. If anyone on that show is (which I'm not convinced, since it's got such an ensemble feel to it) I'd say Starbuck is, and she borders on angsty-Sue territory a lot, no matter how much I may love her in spite of it.
