Oh, I agree that there are a lot of really crap female characters, but to hate all female characters by default? That's just internalized misogyny.

Well, I can't argue with that, as I don't know you in real life, and this may not be true about you anyway, but seriously-- this is F!S. How many secrets have you seen where people confess that an attitude or an opinion they have picked up in fandom has leached into their real life? There's a risk to that kind of attitude.

No, I think it's an enormous difference. People are reacting as if the secret poster said that they ONLY ship slash pairings; but that is not at all what they said. They didn't say they hate all female characters. They didn't suggest that they don't ship het AT ALL. They said if it's the main pairing.

Which, truthfully, often IS an unrealistic, wish-fulfillment pairing. Although that point is rather lost in a badly-worded, reactive secret.

But the poster isn't saying "almost all", he's saying ALL> Even put it in caps like I did. And he's ignoring the myriad Gary Stus that exist. Why doesn't he, by default, hate all main male characters, too?
