Well...it's a show with 45 years of canon, really. So ANYONE who starts watching with the new series is hopelessly behind.

But the new series is written so that it doesn't depend on the Classic stuff to make it's own sort of sense...although knowing Classic canon definitely helps it make even MORE sense. Wikipedia has a billion articles on the show whenever you need to look stuff up, and the Classic fen on lj are pretty tolerant of new fans going, "Huh?"


But, um, if you seriously think you'd like it...buy/rent the DVDs and go to whodux? It's a re-watch community for the new series and they're not too far along yet. Six episodes, I think. A bit of a slow comm (he says guiltily, having never commented), but maybe you can drag in more fresh eyes from your list, too.
