Probably because in today's Star Wars crazy environment, Leia seems to be the first word on everyone's lips when it comes to discussing inspirational/"feminist awakening" sci-fi characters? And because Star Wars fans have somehow as a fandom convinced ourselves that Star Wars is so progressive, when the OT was a product of the 70s/80s and it shows in the way it treats its female characters, Leia included?
