Well, they ARE characters aren't they?

I mean, they probably don't act exactly like that in real life.

Careful, OP. I'm pretty sure "it's a public persona so it's OK to ship it" is how it starts for a lot of people on their way to becoming one of those creepy, delusional RPF shippers.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, because shipping = tinhatting = psycho stalking. /s

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Shipping real people at all, to any degree (specifically anything from writing fic all the way to actively harassing them/their family), automatically requires you to be both delusional & creepy, so... pretending it's not "really them" so it's fine is a pretty thin line to cross.

I think most people would take a delusional, creepy RPFer over an insufferable Judgy McJudgerson anyday.

Hear, hear.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
At least the only people I'm not treating with respect are the ones who think they have the right to violate real people's privacy simply because they're attractive celebrities.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
They're not violating anyone's privacy.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Constantly sending them creepy, invasive messages about their sex lives/romantic relationships/real life families and/or writing fics about any of those things is an invasion of their privacy. None of it is an okay thing to do.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I can personally say that I wouldn't at all.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
i certainly wouldn't, rpf crazies can keep away from me thanks.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Shipping real people can absolutely be innocent daydreams, so you're definitely wrong on this one. And you're pretty mean in your assumptions to boot.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I just wanted to say:

I ship RPF and I bloody well love it.

I know it's not real.

I think you're a bit of a cunt and I really don't give a fuck about what you have to say.

Toodaloo!

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell us more about how little you care.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you also don't give a fuck about treating celebrities like actual human beings deserving of respect & privacy, so you're hardly great yourself.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-10 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Please. Shipping RP in MY HEAD or on my blog certainly does not violate their privacy. I don't message them or tinhat them, but I can enjoy their flirty banter at cons without being a horrible person, thanks.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just one of those things that the Internet sucks at, you know? On the one hand, they definitely are characters. On the other hand, with most things like this, they're probably not entirely characters - and it's usually impossibly difficult to figure out where the line is between those things.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)

It's fine OP. I ship RPF every so often and can separate the real celebs from their public persona. Most RPF shippers can

(Anonymous) 2018-06-07 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Okay I don't like rpf but one of those things is DEFINITELY better than the other.
