I am right there with you.

They're such a good ship too :(

A mentor/mentee ship and a conflicting ideals thing. AND THEY WERE FRIENDS.

I get that Tony is a fandom bicycle, but c'mon

It pisses me off because on paper you have everything you need for a ship to explode. Rescue romance! Former friends turned enemies! Mentor/mentee! Conflicting ideals! The Ancient One telling Stephen literally with her dying breath that they need each other! Stephen begging Karl for help! Actors who are legit friends in real life!

But no fuck all that because facial hair bros lol.

Honestly, I just don't like Mordo in the comics, so even though movie!Mordo is better, I can't get down with the ship in principle.

Don't like Strange/Stark any more, though. Strange doesn't need a snarky ship or an enemy ship. Strange needs someone who's a fucking rock, somebody who can reliably hold shit down, someone who's mature as hell. That's how I feel about it, anyway.

This Tony/Rhodey shipper feels your pain OP. It's not as lacking as it used to be fic-wise but still, godspeed to you in your shipping endeavours.

(Tbh I low-key ship Strange/Mordo myself but it didn't pull me enough to seek out fic).

I'm too busy shipping Steve/his cloak. And a bit of Steve/Wong. Steve/Mordo is usually a ship I'd get totally behind. And I could read it. But for some reason I'm not shipping it.

"Doctor Strange and Wong are basically and possibly literally married" was definitely one of my take-aways from IW.

Sounds about right.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-08 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Same. They really had a certain ease and vibe with each other in IW.

OP, I feel you. This is my ship, too. We will just have to endure, I guess :/

(Anonymous) 2018-06-08 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Karl Mordo is looking about as pleased with these developments as you are.

As someone who's a Strange/Wong shipper, I understand how you feel. It's dull when most of fandom prefer a ship that is not to your taste.

i wonder if fandom's generally pissy attitude towards this movie maybe tanked any shipping potential from i? but also i strongly suspect that if mordo had been played by a white-dude fandom would have completely forgotten it's issues in favor of shipping.

sucks that your ship is lacking in fanwork op, i am sorry about that.

I totally agree that if Mordo were played by a white dude the ship would've exploded. Source: every other piece of media I've ever interacted with.

Personally, if Strange were played by someone not Benedict Cumberbatch, that's what would've made me write for it. Strange/Stark also grosses me out even though I love shipping Tony.
