What are some kinks that you can pinpoint to a certain piece of media?

Villains: started with Jafar.

Threesomes/poli: started with Trio shipping in the Potter fandom or Buffy/Spike/Angel shipping. Not sure which came first, but it was one of them.

Pegging: I think it was a Legend of the Seeker fic. A femslash one written for a fest that I'm pretty sure was written by a man given how everything was described. But damn was it hot.

Pretty sure my thing for a physical strength differential came from TOS Spock/McCoy. Or, well, McCoy in general, really. He had a tendency to get grabbed or picked up, often by the neck, by people an awful lot stronger than him, and then growl at them angrily anyway. I think it became a thing for me. Actually, my neck thing may well come from him as well.

I've always had a vague thing for height differences too, and I seem to remember that bit in 1776 where Jefferson hems Adams in against the bannister being a bit of a lightbulb moment. Though that may link to the strength thing above, and possibly come from McCoy originally as well. Apparently younger me just really had the hots for McCoy, especially in distress. 1776 just happened to clarify the kink variation.

I also have a thing for chains, and a vague idea that it came from reading fantasy books with illustrations as a teenager, but damned if I can remember what the hell fantasy books I was reading. Although I think one of the illustrations I remember was Raistlin Majere chained to a wall by snakes, so Dragonlance may be responsible for at least some of it.

I got into furry/scaly stuff because the first book I ever read with a sex scene had scenes between a man and a fire lizard lady and little me went "ohhhhhh". (Thief With No Shadow, I think it was called)

And I dunno if this counts, but I realised I was a bit of a domme when a friend and I RPed Free! over Skype.

Most all of mine are probably thanks to The Phantom of the Opera, although I was already having dreams of dancing with a skeleton in a red and gold justacorps and tricorn before that.

My interest in whump and dubcon/noncon definitely started with Kurama and Karasu on YuYu Hakusho. I didn't have the vocabulary for it and, even though I hated Karasu, I wanted him to force a kiss on Kurama and I kinda liked seeing Kurama get hurt because I knew his friends would get worried about him and would want to protect him. I dunno, I was a weird kid.

Omg, this is going to sound fucking insane, but.....
In 2nd grade? 3rd? We were reading that classic of literature, a Dick and Jane book. Their little sister Sally was pretending to be a rabbit. She wouldn't do her chores, etc., because 'I'm a rabbit!'.

So her mom and dad said - rabbits live outside and eat carrots, so you'll have to live on the porch, here's a blanket to sit on, and carrots for dinner, while we have hot dogs! Or whatever.

And them treating Sally like a rabbit for like - ten minutes - made me all sorts of intrigued and guess what - fucking pony play (like whoa) and puppy play are kinks i just adore.

Kitty's home!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who sent hugs and love for my poorly cat the other night. We got Charlie home this evening. He's not quite out of the woods yet as the vets still aren't exactly sure what caused the fluid build-up or if he'll keep stable for the next few days, and the last time he perked up he got worse again so we're still looking at the possibility of euthanasia if he deteriorates again. :( He's due back on Monday for a check-up.

But for now he's being spoiled rotten, eating like a horse and breathing a steady 40 breaths a minute instead of the terrible 90 he was at before. Fingers crossed. Thank you guys so much for the well wishes. <3

It doesn't hurt that the people who have kinks that more people than not find squicky are more polite and are far better at warning and tagging their stuff than people with less divisive ones.

As far as "not my cup of tea" content goes it is far less annoying to hit the back button before reading something than getting blindsided in the middle of it.
