No. It's fiction. You don't like it, you don't read it. Simple. As long as it's tagged appropriately so that people can avoid it, there is not problem. I'm totally okay with anything fictional. I only have a problem if something problematic translates into real life. Some of those kinks, though, attract people who are into that stuff in real life or who want to move it into their real life. And that's where i have the problem.

I disagree because I criticize bad ideas in fiction and art all the time. Often they're ideas that are not all that kinky, like the abundance of sad boner confessional literary fic about middle-aged and middle-class dudes discovering the meaning of life through unsatisfactory infidelity or stalking of the manic pixie dream girl.

But fans policing fans isn't really about any deeper politics other than who gets to dictate the rules of Calvinball for an adult version of playing with dolls. It's a waste of my time and energy to search AO3 or tumblr for "someone is wrong on the internet" when they're literally a nobody with a few hundred or even a few thousand followers.

idk I won't defend anyone, I think plenty of people's kinks are gross and disgusting and worth socially ostracizing them from the majority of fandom. but I also don't think they should have the police called on them for drawing pikachu fucking ash ketchum or whatever.
