I have to admit, I find it kind of fun, too. This was how I felt through things like Harry Potter shipwars, where I knew the canon well enough to know who people were talking about, but I didn't ship anyone and wasn't in the fandom, so I didn't care. As long as there's no doxxing, telling people to kill themselves, etc. (although it's always hard to know that there isn't when you're not actually involved in the fandom).
