NAYRT but the thing that is being harmed is actually, you know, content creators and artists.

Let me rephrase that. If the only thing being harmed is Not Me, I find it hard to give a single shit about that.

So the point that I was making was kind of specific to the context of the thread?

The conversation started out with someone who was arguing that not all instances of piracy actually harm creators (because some people who pirate would not otherwise have bought the work). If you disagree with that argument, that's one thing - I'm not sure that I agree with it myself.

But the response to that argument was that piracy is still bad even if it doesn't harm the creators at all, and I definitely disagree with that idea.

Prove it.

I'm just boggled by the sheer entitlement inherent in all of this. "I don't want to pay for this thing, but I should be able to consume it anyway." No, you shouldn't. If you want it that much, you can pay for it like everyone else. No one is entitled to anything simply because they want it.

Thanks for ignoring there are many reasons for not paying, including that buying something can be impossible because geoblock, importation/exportation restrains or simply because it's out of print, among other reasons.

I see a bunch of people in this thread agreeing that it's fine to pirate stuff that you can't purchase legally, so nice strawman.
