My kitty Charlie made great progress for the past few days after being back and forth to the vets, but he deteriorated rapidly again tonight and was struggling to breathe. Eventually decided it was kindest to let him go.

We were bracing ourselves for this from the first of his many visits this week, but each time he perked up we thought maybe he might pull through.

I'm in pieces. I'm really glad that we had an amazing vet who did everything to make him comfortable, and was cuddling/comforting him just as much as we were. It was really gentle and peaceful for him and I'm glad he's not suffering anymore, but I feel guilty and like I've failed him somehow. I miss him so much already. Thank you to everyone who wished us well during this. Goodbye Charlie. <3

Your vet sounds awesome, and I'm glad that Charlie was surrounded with love and comfort in his final days and hours from both the vet and you and your family.

Oh I'm so sorry, I know nothing I can say will make it better, I've been there myself with cats of my own and it's always horrible.

You did what you could. You loved him with everything you had and I know somewhere in their heads they know this.
