Never mind that there are plenty of fics out there where the author tried to and was successful in fitting their stories (whatever the actual genre) into the "feel" of the established canon. Including, I'm sure, Supernatural romance stories.

Of course there are. But I'm in the SPN fandom, and most don't bother. Which is fine, I never said it wasn't.
