YKINMK and all but sometimes I see something like this and wonder if fandom culture has made shipping such a be all and end all that people can't see any relationship as valuable, intense, worhtwhile or compelling unless its romantic.

Nah, they have a beautiful relationship in the show. But it's still fun to imagine Joseph taking the lead, and John doing everything "Bernadette" asks of him. Those particular characters lend themselves well to that kind of dynamic, and it doesn't hurt that Luke Evans is hot. *g*
