Weren't they selling moonshine or something? I don't know if that counts as a job.

They were but then got caught and were on probation (and Uncle Jesse promised the govt. they wouldn't sell anymore in exchange for no jail time).

So, yeah - they needed real jobs.
(Thanks, Wiki, for the info - i remember watching this show a little and never had a clue that that was what was going on.)

My memory is hazy about the show but I also think they couldn't work legally? Precisely because of the moonshine since they had been caught and jailed for that at least once? And they were in constant races that had money prices so that usually went to the farm and expenses. Oh, and I DO remember that the farm thing was not so much because Uncle Jesse was bad at farming, but because Boss Hogg created weird reasons to try and take the farm from them just because.

And the secret is? All those things were pretty clear at the time. It was a stupid comedy and except for the racist car not much has changed when you compare it to modern comedies.

Lmao I was a kid when this show first ran. I grew up in the American southeast. This show was a huge hit but especially where I lived, and I thought it sucked for similar reasons and didnt watch (all my friends loved it, too, lol).

I was in high school when this show was on.

I knew it was stupid but I really liked the way Tom Wopat filled out his pants.

Yum.
