Tbh, I'm not sure I want a big deal made over Tony's sacrifice. Like OP, I feel like I've had enough Tony Stark in the Avengers movies and I'd like to see less of a focus on him whether he survives or not.

I adore Tony, even still, but I'd actually be alright with it if Infinity War killed him, because frankly by this point the man needs a rest and it seems like for superheroes there is literally only one way to manage that. Not that death is necessarily a guarantee either, admittedly. But. The man's been on trauma time since Afghanistan, and frankly he needs a lie down in the worst way. If death is the only way the MCU will let that happen, then let him have it.

About the only character left in the MCU that I'm invested in them NOT dying is Rhodey. Absolutely anyone else can kick the bucket and I'll be fine with it.

Cap will sacrifice himself and Tony will be the hero of the day and have his happy ending with Pepper, allowing for RDJ cameos in future movies whenever he feels like it, (Not my personal preference, just how I see it ending up.)

Honestly I see them retiring him off so he can still make cameo's in other movies, maybe they won't and will kill him but considering how much money he nets them I'll be surprised if they off him for good.

I used to love Tony but the last few movies he's been in have been sooo bad with his character arc that it's not possible anymore for me to enjoy the character as he's being written. Pleeeease let it stop.

I love Tony but at this point, I'm with you OP. I'll be truly upset if they kill him but I feel it will be necessary to give the other characters as spiderman, doctor strange and black panther centre spotlight.

In terms of IW I'm annoyed with how they handled the death of my fave, Loki. It looks like it is, indeed, his 'true' death (other than the others who died, even Gamora, who will likely be brought back to life in the next film). It annoys me even more that other characters in the next film are likely to have a fitting, heroic death. Don't get me wrong, as they should! In fact, I'm going to be even more annoyed if they 'fridge' one of the others as they did Loki but this looks unlikely. I just wish they gave Loki a more fitting death.

As long as Tony is also given an awesome death scene (Cap as well) I'll be happy.

I actually want Tony to get his happy ending, just chilling with his tech and Pepper in the background. That said, I'm so sick of Iron Man taking over other MCU movies and then fandom acting like he's the main character of everything. Civil War, then now Infinity War...urgh.

Cap will be the one to make the ultimate sacrifice. His story arch is complete. Tony will 'retire' from superheroing at the end of the movie and get his happy ever after with Pepper (remember they were talking about babies? Script writers don't throw away precious screen time like that without a point). HOWEVER Tony will continue to pop up in future Marvel movies as a 'mentor' figure for the next wave of Avengers much the way they already set him up doing so for Pete.

I think we're going to be stuck with him for a long time to come.

How do you not see how hypocritical this comment is? Literally all of the stans are god awful at this point, and Tony antis are just as prevalent as his "god awful fanbase". And stats on fucking AO3 about Team Iron Man fics aren't the final word on that one way or another.

"Tony stans are way more common, and you know it!" Yeah, no. I wish everyone died in IW, and I really hate the toxic fandom with their continued infighting as if Civil War is still relevant. But I usually keep that to myself, since those opinions are biased and not very productive. But most antis don't feel the same, and are embarrassingly open about how they've grown to want a character to die because they hate fans of that character.
