Doxxing happened pre-tumblr.Going by fanlore.org (I'm old but I wasn't in fandom then), once upon a time the huge moral panic was slash.

The players change, the moves have different names, but the rolling around in morally shitty tactics because "the enemy" are horrible and deserve it, that will never change. Let us please all strive to comport ourselves with empathy, dignity, and grace. If we can.
