Unless you post/reblog "controversial" content frequently or are in a small fandom (and those fandoms rarely attract antis), chances are they won't find you, and if they do, your initial response or lack of it makes a difference.

Don't engage them, if they try to engage you block them, and keep anon asks off.

That's all good advice, but it doesn't change anything if the mere existence of the teens who think 25+ people in fandom are all horrible pedophiles is what offends & scares someone to the point of never wanting to be involved in fandom spaces. Because they do harass people off the site, and even if it's easy to avoid it happening to you personally, it really is understandable to be bothered by that.

"Controversial" meaning, about half of the ships associated with the new movies.

Or just holding the opinion that people who do a "problematic" ship shouldn't be chased out of fandom to protect the precious feels of tumblr young adults.
