Because they're an idiot?

More like I'm someone who blocks and blacklists as much as I can to keep my tumblr experience as hate-free as I can.

And hey, 1000+ followers and many not-anti-approved posts later, and so far I've only got one negative ask! I blocked that person, and I have yet to hear again from them.

Guess that not playing their game helps to avoid the biggest issue with antis. But if you still want to engage them just so you can complain about them... have fun with that, if you enjoy that negativity?

But you're generalizing from a single experience just because it works for you. Some people that do what you do avoid hate. Some people that do what you do don't. There's no way to know a priori what the proportions are without doing some investigation. Even polling your own personal contacts wouldn't work because it's a blatantly self-selected sample by your own admission.

Just because a strategy worked for one person doesn't mean it's a universally-successful strategy; you can't properly generalize individual experiences to a broader population purely by virtue of those experiences.

And you're generalizing in the most negative way possible.

Shit happens, tumblr (like any popular site) is a mixed bag, and yes, there're awful people there who do harass others with any excuse, and worse.

But anyone's tumblr experience doesn't have to be pure hell. There are tools to avoid the worse or even to make it good, and using them instead of fearing all the time is better.
