What

(unrelated, fucking hell that movie was great. I love that it wasn't a one-to-one adaptation, but rather, "the dream you would have after reading the book." It works so well from that angle.)

I really liked the movie and didn't know there was a book.

Oh man, read the book! It's actually a trilogy, but the movie is based off just the first one. It's so well done, told from the vantage point of the biologist (Lena, in the movie). It's a pretty light read (only about 200 pages), but it really makes the most of those pages. I love it.
