...and they likely would've been told by every damn professional they reached out to that they had no right being depressed because they had money and got to live exciting lives, therefore they had more than most so how dare they have the nerve to claim depression? Just, you know, word those guilt trips more manipulatively and drag them out so they can be charged for.

Wow, that's a pretty big and completely unfounded assumption. Not every therapist is an asshole like that. And if, as you suggest, the motive was money then that's the last answer a shady therapist would've given - because it'd likely end in their client angrily stomping off or, you know, committing suicide and then the gravy train comes to a screeching halt. Your deeply cynical reasoning doesn't make any sense.
