I’m an ugly* cis woman and I don’t think women are exempt from caring what potential sexual/romantic partners look like. I don’t necessarily like conventionally attractive guys, but no-one I’ve ever been attracted to has reciprocated, and I’ve never been attracted to anyone who’s said they’re attracted to me (mostly much older guys when I was 11 or 12) I’m not gonna resent people who don’t find me attractive; I save that for the ones who insult me for existing in their line of sight.

*how ugly? I’ve been called a troll, for my in-person looks rather than online behavior, as an adult, six times by four different adult men—oh, and a gnome once, by a different guy. On one memorable occasion I was followed by a, well, pack of dudes who barked at me and called me a dog for a block until I literally ran away, and just today when I was walking home from work a guy walked up to me, called me adorable, and then went back to his buddies to (loudly, so I could hear) collect $20.00 for complementing “the uggo.” It’s not something I’ll grow out of; I’ll be 35 in two weeks and it’s been happening since I was 10. I’ve never had a kiss, a date, or even held hands.
