Both of these things are true for me. I haven't seen it yet. I'll watch it eventually (on DVD. From the library).

I agree! Not willing to pay money on this. Or anything else, actually. Yay libraries!

You're right, he doesn't really look like Harrison Ford (but then, I'm not really sure anybody does?) but I think he did put in a lot of effort to use a lot of similar mannerisms and way of speaking that Han did in the OT so it ended up working for me.

I can push the "I believe" button on a lot of things though if I think someone's actually making an effort. :)

I think he did a great job, he's a believable younger Han Solo.

Harrison Ford is not easy to hold a candle to, too.

Though it occurs to me as I look at the pictures in the secret they might've gone a long way to making him look more like OT Han if they'd styled his hair differently...

I haven't seen Solo yet, but at first I thought, it's okay if there's not much of a resemblance because time passed, right? But then I remembered that Harrison Ford wasn't that old when he filmed Star Wars - i.e. mid-30s - and while I don't know how old the younger actor is or how old younger Solo is supposed to be, but it's harder to suspend disbelief if we're talking a mid-20s to mid-30s difference. People usually don't look vastly different over that period of time. If it were a teen or child Solo, or if Ford had been more middle aged back in the day, it might have been easier to pretend.

Yay, it's my lazy secret from the other day!!!

Doing the Lord's work, secret-making Anon/s!!!

I honestly thought he resembled a younger version of Han Solo (not necessarily Harrison Ford) a lot. He clearly worked hard to mimic the way of speaking, gestures, etc., and I thought his presentation was super Han Solo-esque. I came out of the movie impressed, only to hear everyone else saying how poor the resemblance was!

Funny - I didn't think the younger actor looked anything like Harrison Ford either but I see a lot of similarities in these two pictures. If the younger actor was turned the same way, I think I could see it even more.

See, I'm sorry but I don't get why one of these is a secret and the other one isn't. I'd think you'd get more of a negative reaction to saying you don't like one of the most popular characters in the franchise, than saying you don't think the new actor works.

Basically because it's ~just a movie, and suspension of disbelief and so on, plus this fandom has it's share of wankstorms over people not liking the latest offering for any reason.

No one was more skeptical than I going into this movie, and a HUGE part of that was how much I loved that fan film on YouTube because that guy was the PERFECT young Harrison Ford and I was PISSED they didn't cast him instead, BUT within ten minutes my doubts ran screaming out the building because it was FANTASTIC and so much fun. I didn't really care about Han and was really only there because of Lando, but I am 400% on board the Solo train now.

But you should also watch that fan film on YouTube because that actor killed it as Han.

Agree with OP about not liking who they cast as Han. I couldn't see him as the character at all, so I had no desire to see his movie. Just didn't seem like Han.

Personally, I think it's not that bad if it weren't for the nose. The shape of his face down to the chin isn't that far off, but the tiny nose compared to Ford's fairly big one is pretty jarring.
But I thought especially his manner of speaking was pretty good most of the time.

My friend wanted to see it SO BAD so I went along with her. I wasn't really expecting anything after all of the behind the scenes stuff I'd heard about, but the guy really, really tried, and everyone once in a while, I could suspend disbelief and see Han Solo in a mannerism or a the way he spoke.

TL;DR: It was better than my low expectations anticipated.
