If they "love" the celebrity, then it's all ONTD!boyfriend! and Yaaaas Queen! If any moment is anything less than perfection, you see the excuses fly and then it's forgotten.
If they "hate" the celebrity, then said celebrity could say and do the EXACT SAME THING as the celebrity they love and they'll be spouting how much they're an awful person who's (at the mild end) "bland" or at the screechy end some kind of apologist for something awful (whether it's true or not).
If they really hate the celebrity, they'll pull out "receipts" from years ago (the longest one I've seen is 10 years) to prove why said otherwise harmless celebrity should be hated, even if said celebrity has apologized and has shown signs they changed. Even if it was proven to be nothing more than a blip or a thoughtless moment or just a moment when said celebrity gave a muddled answer under pressure.
I don't disagree with some of their objects of hate. I mean, some celebrities are straight up awful people who've gotten away with a shitton shit.
Their weird insistence on nothing less than perfection being not good enough for some, while outright dickbaggery is fine for others is just...strange. And baffling. There is just no consistency or nuance.
Then again, it's supposed to be just a gossip site so weird biases are kind of thing with everything in that oevre. But the way they take it above and beyond like it's this life and death thing and disagreement, no matter how minor, makes you some kind of -ist is just a case of people taking it way more seriously than it should be.
(yes, i admit to being fascinated with the ONTD group dynamics; it's utterly fascinating to watch as an observer)
