What show is?

Steven Universe, I think?

Wow that looks bad.

Steven Universe goes farther off-model than a Liefeld comic for less apparent benefit.

Both pictures are super hideous, tbh

Yeah, that show's got some ugly-ass art. :/ People are like, "Oh that looks like shit" and I'm like, "It's Steven Universe, so, yeah."

...yeah, that second one looks terrible, but it's not how she's usually drawn, even in the later art style. Every show has instances of characters looking weird in background/tweener frames. And the first one doesn't look to me like the usual for the early style, either.

Some alternate screencaps, first from Connie's debut appearance, then from the episode with the red dress:

I mean, there's definitely a style shift, but it's not that dramatic.

I'm surprised that second image is actually from the show. I know they get cartoony with it sometimes, especially with the comic relief characters, but that's kinda pushing it.
I don't really miss season 1's style though. Pearl and Steven especially look super weird to me now when I go back through the old eps.

There used to be a moratorium on discussing "size chat" in regards to Steven Universe because people would (rightfully) point out that way characters's sizes weren't consistent. They eventually find out that the show's staff chose not to use a size comparison chart, so they felt vindicated. Size chat was banned shortly afterwards though.

Yeah. I didn't like it either when characters suddenly became nothing but heads and tiny feet.
