Do you find that insulting? Cause why is it insulting for someone to think they are cool? :p

And- it's not that if you don't like the movie you think you are cool (or too cool). Not everyone is going to like the movie, and that's fine. It's the insulting other viewer's intelligence that had me make that statement. The OP stated they "nod their heads" when people rave about the movie. Implys they think they are better or cooler than the people who love the movie more than the OP does. They also imply they aren't as controlled by media hype as others are, again making them better- or cooler.

Not insulting, no, I just don't find it a logical conclusion. I read the "nod their heads" bit as meaning the OP couldn't be bothered to argue about it, or given that they feel it's a secret, that they thought they'd be bashed for disagreeing.

I see your point on media hype. I guess I don't read that as implying that the OP thinks they're necessarily better or cooler... but I can see why it would be annoying to people who really loved the movie.

In reality media hype tends to affect us all, just in different ways. It kind of got me in reverse... I was so looking forward to seeing the movie, and so expecting to love it due to the level of hype (not so much media hype as fan hype, heh), that I ended up feeling really pissed off and probably over-reacting to its flaws when I saw it and didn't think it was particularly good.

Well, the nodding the heads, was an ex, and wasn't the only issue. That is possible as well, but seeing as the OP included "While I was honest in my opinion, when you voice yours" implies otherwise. "While" is used to imply a contradictory statement. The While indicates he doesn't feel their statement is valid simply because of media. When, the person, or people if they are referring to the community as a whole, they are speaking to, may not be influenced by the media, I read it, asthey are implying it is.

Sorry, if I was unclear before, when I get annoyed, I have a tendency to say things and not follow through, even if there is a follow through, and a logic in my head, I don't say it.

I agree to your last statement that media hype affects everyone. And that's why I reacted adversely to the post.

P.S Though I wasn't involved in Dark Knight in anyway, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the movie. It sucks when you go to a movie excited for something and are severely disappointed.

I think in general, we can't be absolutely positive what the OP thinks, but that was my reading on it :)

But the OP isn't referring to the people who love the movie. The OP states that there is a great plot, great characters, great cinema and h/s/i states that it is a solid 4 out of 5. That sounds like someone who loves the movie and I doubt his denial of a perfect 5/5 had anything to do with media hype. Actually I believe the OP says why that final star was lacking right in the secret.

It's clear the OP is referring to the people who are branding the movie as life changing and the best movie EVER! which h/s/i finds to be an overreaction. I don't see the "nod my head" part as any sort of comment on their self-perceived "coolness" factor but that h/s/i understands that it is better to keep quiet about their view because they will be met with scorn/ridicule/fantards flaming a la Rotten Tomatoes.

Since h/s/i knows this, that is WHY this is being posted as an anon secret instead of on the OP's f-list.

DO you know the OP personally? I was simply stating my views on their statement and what their statement meant to me.

As I said before I have nothing wrong with the OP thinking that the movie was lacking. I stated that it seemed to me, that he was saying

I never said it wasn't clear that's what the OP was referring to those people, but while the OP seems to think his idea is Honest, the use of while and the nod of the head, to me, implies he thinks others idea that it was the best movie ever are not valid, because he believe they were influenced by media.

Why can't people consider a movie like that "life-changing", genuinely, without being affected by the media? Again, that's where my issue was with the post. I'm sorry if I offended you with my reaction? Because I have nothing against people who don't like movies. But it's annoying when people are dismissive of others views. And I feel that's what the OP was doing. Am I not justified? Sorry if that sounds rude, I'm just wondering why so many people besides the OP decided to reply :)

P.S Did I say that I didn't know why it was being posted?
