eh, considering that there was so much biased backlash before the movie was even out, i don't think its quality really mattered in the end, sad as it is.

that being said, i liked it a lot! but i agree that there were issues – some of the pacing was off, for one.

I take issue with "it needed to be fucking amazing to prove itself" because it should have HAD to prove itself. There are so many remakes out these day and nothing else has been held up to that sort of scrutiny. I thought it was a fun comedy, just like it was supposed to be.

SA - shouldn't have had to, my bad. But yeah, just let there be mediocre female-led comedies and superhero movies and action flicks without it being A Whole Big Thing, for fuck's sake.

Sure, but let's not pretend that this movie wasn't subjected to more than the usual scrutiny and outrage than most remakes that don't involve gender flipping the whole cast.
