156 - I agree so much, but your lack of ICO and/or Shadow of the Colossus forces me to dock you 500 points.

I actually almost brought up Shadow of the Colossus in my response to this secret, too...it's funny how sometimes the most simplistic things can be the most artistic.

I considered putting Shadow of the Colossus on the secret, because it was definitely beautiful and moving across such a vast, empty world was incredibly affective, but I'm sure some of the impact of the story was lost on me as I've never played ICO (I want to, I just can't find it), so I figured I'd go with what I knew.

I could list all sorts of other games that I consider art, too.

I never played Ico and SoC still rocked my would. While I wasn't emotionally affected by the story, I adored it. It was haunting and beautiful.

When someone compares art to video games, I immediately think of Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. It's like a gut reaction, so I felt I ought to put it out there. I totally agree with you about Okami, because that game is just so pretty in that delicate, rice paper kind of way, but also because you pretty much paint the world back to being beautiful. (Haven't played Terranigma but I'm looking into it now 'cause it sounds like my kind of game.)

Both of the games were never really about the story so much as the gameplay, which the director said himself (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=132780) in an interview. (Oddly enough, Ueda goes on to say that he personally never considered his games as "art"...). And honestly, it was more Shadow of the Colossus adding to the backstory of ICO than the other way around.

I'm sorry that you've never been able to play ICO. It still sells pretty cheap on ebay, unlike some older games, so maybe you could try there?
