Yup!

I'm not too thrilled with the OP's wording, myself; better would be "I think it would be more respectful to cast the live action movie with non-white actors/actors of color, but..." Most of the characters are pretty strongly designed after East Asian (usually Chinese or Tibetan) physical and cultural standards, so it'd be nice to have actors who are closer to that than to Snowy White WASPitude, but the Water Tribe people seem to be closer to Inuit than anything else. I haven't read interviews or commentaries, though, so it's possible the creators have said they were actually based on Pacific Islanders (many of whom are, yes, brown) or something.

Thank you. I wish I had put it in those words. I agree that the Water Tribe is probably supposed to represent the Innu; I just completely forgot to mention them in my secret. The point I was trying to make was that my closet impossible dream to play Azula and get to freak out and kill people was even more impossible because I'm the wrong ethnicity for the part. But considering how few good film roles there are for people of colour, I have no right to bitch. (I should have known to choose my words more carefully when discussing race >_<.)

s'okay, we all make mistakes, especially when it comes to such a fraught subject. And like I said in my original comment, I totally sympathize. The girls of Avatar would be awesome roles for anyone.
