Not "going on" as in "still producing new installments" -- just sort of in limbo.

Because of the Great Hanshin Earthquake (or better known as the Kobe Earthquakes). Although it was a good 8 years after it happened, Asuka (the magazine that published X), felt it was too soon to show a graphic depiction of a major earthquake in the later chapters. Supposedly it was turning real violent (I know, like people exploding because a sword inside of them wasn't violent enough) that they asked CLAMP to tone it down. Instead they didn't want to and decided to do it in a later date.

Yeah, and what I heard is that now they're sort of shopping around for a different magazine or publisher for it, so that they can do what they want with it. But they definitely don't seem to be in any hurry. :P
