Oh ack, that's awful.

I have a group of friends that I ADORE...but, well, we're ALL socially awkward nerdy/geeky/dorky weirdos. One of said friends moved to Japan to teach English a few years ago, and held a going-away get-together at a local Boston Pizza bar.

...I felt so terrible for the waitress at the end of the night that I secretly tipped her more than the cost of my meal in apology. (Nobody else tipped her that I noticed.) My friends, I can't take them anywhere in public.

The idea of being in a place with several hundred people ALL like that...it makes me shudder. Maybe I SHOULD cross, "go to a con," off my list of things to do before I die.

My anime friends and I are all in our late-teens and 20s, and we act like old grumps at cons, swatting at kids to get off our lawns. XD I think it's mostly an age-maturity thing with regards to socially acceptable behavior at cons.

There is a 21+ con starting this year in Rhode Island, though. I really hope it does well and catches on. It'd be nice to have a few more teen-free cons.
